George W. Wynne, 77 Of Dillwyn Dies In Farmville

DILLWYN, Sept. 22 – George Wesley Wynne, 77, of Dillwyn, passed away Wednesday, September 16, 2009 at Southside Community Hospital. He was the husband of the late Lois Arlene Anderson Wynne.

Born March 24, 1932, in Elizabeth City County, he was the son of the late Elmer Nelson Wynne and Reba D. Marshall Wynne. He was a farmer, a retired postal worker and a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a son, James Dwayne Curling and father-in-law, Isaac W. Smith.

He is survived by four daughters, Judy Tolley and James LeGrand, Patricia and Scott McAtee, and Nadine Ruff and Larry Berry all of Dillwyn and Arlene Green of Newport News; two sons, Jerry and Debra Wynne of Dillwyn and Jason and Amy Wynne of Prospect; a sister, Patricia Varna of Goose Creek, SC; his best friend, George B. Nelson of Homosassa, FL; 16 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren, and two more great-grandchildren expected soon.

Funeral services were conducted Sunday in the chapel of Shorter Funeral Home. Interment followed in Westview Cemetery.
