DILLWYN, Feb. 2 – Porter B. Law, 76, died Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at Heritage Hall Nursing Home in Dillwyn after a lengthy illness. She was born on May 5, 1933 in Buckingham, the daughter of William Baird and Julia (Spencer) Baird.

Mrs. Law is survived by her daughter, Nancy Newlin; son-in-law, Keith; and granddaughter, Samantha of Martinsburg, PA; a brother and sister-in-law, James (Buddy) and Jane Baird of Accomac; a sister and brother-in-law, June and Dabney Crews of Buckingham; and a sister, Jessalyn Foster of Dillwyn. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her former husband, Joseph M. Law and daughter, Donna G. Law.

She worked as a secretary, hairdresser and school bus driver. She loved young people, spending time with family, and being surrounded by friends. She was a gifted pianist and especially enjoyed accompanying gospel singers and family sing-alongs.

A funeral service was held Sunday at Dunkum Funeral Home.

Donations may be made to Mulberry Grove or Central Baptist Church in her memory.
