Funeral Service For Christina Martin, 52 Held January 19
Published 4:41 pm Thursday, August 5, 2010
JANUARY 19 – Christina Elizabeth Marie de Wilde Martin, 52, beloved wife of Thomas Howard Martin, departed this life on Sunday, January 17, 2010 at Mt. Mary's Hospital in Henrico.
She leaves behind her husband, Tom; two daughters, Dieuwertje, and Suzanne and her boyfriend, Vincent; sister, Han and husband, Mans; two brothers, Paul and Hans, and a host of friends and relatives both in Holland and the U.S.
“Chris”, as she was lovingly called, left a stressful career in Holland to seek adventure and peace in the outdoors. She left the city behind to enjoy open skies, fresh air, and space to raise her Saarloos wolfdogs which she loved very much, and to become a “farmer”. It was her desire to grow her own food, ride horses, and be free.
In Elam she purchased property and moved her life to the States. From there her adventure started and was completed when she met and married Tom. Chris was very happy here where she found both peace and love.
It is very sad that she lost her battle with cancer and did not have more time with us. She has touched many lives with her sparkling personality, sharp sense of humor, and eccentric sense of direction. She leaves a hole in our lives and hearts.
Tom and Chris shared a special love that not many people have found.
Family and friends will gather at Puckett Funeral Home Tuesday (tonight) at 7 p.m. for her funeral service.
Family will receive friends from 6-7 p.m. on Tuesday before the service.
Burial will be in Holland at the family grave in Hilversum.JANUARY 19 – Christina Elizabeth Marie de Wilde Martin, 52, beloved wife of Thomas Howard Martin, departed this life on Sunday, January 17, 2010 at Mt. Mary's Hospital in Henrico.
