FLORIDA, Nov. 18 – Frida Lazda Berkis, 92, of Gulfport, Florida died Thursday, November 13, 2008 at home. She was born in Irbene, Latvia and graduated from the University of Latvia Dental School in 1942.

She is predeceased by her husband of 57 years, Dr. Alexander Berkis. They immigrated to the US and settled in Farmville, where she lived for 41 years. There she was a member of the Farmville Presbyterian Church.

She wintered in Gulfport, FL for many years, and relocated in 2001. She was a member of the Latvian congregation at Our Savior Lutheran and the Sorority Dzintra.

She is survived by a daughter, Ingrida Anna, and grandsons Alex and Connor.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 21, 2008 at 1 p.m. at Our Savior Lutheran in Gulfport, FL.
