Ethel Sims Walker, 84 Farmville Native Dies in Louisiana

AUGUST 31 – Ethel Sims Walker, a retired housekeeper, died Thursday, August 26, 2004 at Bywater Hospital. She was 84 years old.

Ms. Walker was born in Farmville and was a resident of New Orleans, LA for the past 40 years. Preceding her in death was her son, Clifford James Walker; granddaughter, Tynika Walker; parents, Lindsey and Carrie Sims; sisters, Mable S. Scruggs, Ruby S. Foster, Mary Lee Williams, Lucille Trent and Bertha Sims and brothers, Ralph, Eldridge (twin brother) and William Sims.

She is survived by three sons, Irvin, Jr., Eldridge, Sr., and Reginald Walker; four daughters, Joyce Walker Henderson, Lynn Walker Benton, Brenda Walker Picard and Pamela Walker Floyd; 16 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; sons-in-law, Raymond Floyd, James Picard, Charles Stirgus and Byron Benton; daughters-in-law, Olga Jones Walker, Silvia Washington Walker, Lucenda Broussard and Katherine La France and a host of other family and friends.

Funeral services were held Monday at 11 a.m. from the Chapel of Tharp Funeral Home, New Orleans, LA. Interment followed in Resthaven Cemetery.
