Elizabeth Hudgins, 95

OCTOBER 15 – Elizabeth Baldwin Hudgins, 95, went to reside with Christ on Monday, October 12, 2009. She lived a model Christian life and her family and friends will miss her greatly.

She was born November 8, 1913, in Cumberland, the daughter of the late Pinkey Bird Baldwin and Mary Dowdy Baldwin, and the wife of the late Leake Allison Hudgins.

Mrs. Hudgins is survived by a daughter, Miranda Wescoat and husband, Norman; two grand-daughters, Stephanie Collins Rhoades and husband, David, and Amanda Wescoat Perry and husband, Tim; step-grandson, Robert Wescoat; six great-grandchildren, Jacob, Logan, Allison, Towler, Savannah, and Cody; many special family members, including Paul and Marian Irving; and sisters, Grace Brooks and Gertrude Dawson.

She had been an active member of Mount Zion Baptist Church and the WMU in New Canton. She retired from Fork Union Military Academy and also worked prior to that at the Cumberland Restaurant. She was a wonderful cook and known for her fabulous rolls and pies.

Funeral services were held Thursday (today) at Mount Zion Baptist Church in New Canton, with interment in the church cemetery.

Contributions may be made to the Mount Zion Cemetery Fund or Hospice of the Piedmont.

Dunkum Funeral Home, Dillwyn, served the family.
