Eddie Schaubach, Jr., 77

CREWE, July 16 – Eddie M. Schaubach Jr., 77, of Crewe, passed away on Tuesday, July 14, 2009. He was born on July 26, 1931 to the late Mr. and Mrs. Eddie M. Schaubach Sr. of Crewe. He was also the grandson of a Confederate soldier who witnessed the surrender at Appomattox Courthouse in 1865.
Mr. Schaubach was a graduate of the General Motors Institute of the General Motors Institute in Detroit, MI, and was a U.S. Army veteran who served during the Korean War. He was a well known local businessman with many interests, including owning and operating Schaubach Buick for 28 years, founding Crewe Auto Parts and being a poultry producer for Holly Farms/Tyson since 1970.
He loved his family, friends, traveling and telling of his ad-ventures.
Mr. Schaubach is survived by his wife of 53 years, Betty Schaubach; three children, Tom Schaubach and wife, Susan and their daughters, Kirsten and Kenna of Crewe; Chris Schaubach and wife, Diane and their three daughters, Leah, Lauren and Samantha of Cary, NC; and Liesje Schaubach Alexander and husband, Charly and their sons, Ted and Sam of Frederick, MD. He was preceded in death by a sister, Alice Joy Richardson.
The family will receive friends on Friday from 7 to 8 p.m. at Jennings-McMillian Funeral Home.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at Crewe Cemetery.
