Dr. Louis Kovacs, 85 Retired Longwood Professor, Dies

MARCH 23 – Dr. Louis Kovacs, 85, of Farmvllle, died Wednesday, March 17, 2004.
He was born In Virginia on May 3,1918.
Dr. Kovacs came to Longwood University in 1967 as a professor of Education. He retired after more then 30 years of service. He was a graduate of Emory & Henry Class of 1944, Southern Methodist and received a Doctorate Degree of Education from the University of Tennessee. He coached football, baseball and basketball at Pocahontas High School and was supervisor and assistant superintendent of schools for Russell County. He was principal of Highland View Elementary School, Middle School and Virginia High School in Bristol.
He is survived by his wife, Lee Kovacs; a son, Michael Kovacs of Bristol; five granddaughters and one grandson. He was preceded in death by a son, Mark Kovacs of California.
A graveside service was held 3 p.m. Saturday in New Store Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Buckingham County.
Doyne-Burger-Davis Funeral Home, Farmvllle, was in charge of arrangements.
