Della T. Mendez, 83

OCTOBER 21 – Della Thompson Mendez, 83, a retired registered nurse, graduate of Stuart Circle Hospital School of Nursing, and a member of Cumberland Presbyterian Church, and the Rebekah Lodge 87 of Farmville, died Thursday, October 16, 2008.

Surviving are one son and five daughters, Arthur J. Mendez of Richmond, Sherry M. Giles and Rosemary Pollard both of Farmville, Patty M. Freeman of Cumberland, Jayne M. Mendez of Pamplin and Teresa Duncan of Appomattox; 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; three brothers and two sisters, Roscoe C. Thompson of Dillwyn, David D. Thompson of Bumpass, Clayton G. Thompson of Farmville, Betty T. Hubbard of Keysville and Minnie T. Anderson of Farmville.

Preceding her in death is one daughter, Della (Penny) Rice and two granddaughters, Stephanie Jo Dyson and Jamey Elizabeth Ingram; three brothers, Lewis H. Thompson, George P. Thompson and Earl A. Thompson and a sister, Lucy May Thompson.

A memorial service will be conducted at Cumberland Presbyterian Church on Saturday, October 25 at 6:30 p.m.
