David “Tony” Moore, 51

RINGGOLD, April 2 – David Anthony “Tony” Moore, 51, of 761 Rock Springs Road, Ringgold, died Wednesday, April 1, 2009 at his residence. He had been in declining health for the past nine months.

Mr. Moore was born in Danville, on August 11, 1957, a son of David D. Moore and Corrine Lynch Moore, whom survive, of the residence.

“Tony” graduated from Dan River High School in 1976 and Southern Virginia Community College in Keysville. He was a member of Moffett Memorial Baptist Church. He retired from the Virginia Department of Corrections, after twenty-five years, as an officer. After his retirement he worked as a driver for Crewe Transfer, of Winston-Salem, NC.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by six children, Judith Moore, Crystal Moore, Katelyn Moore, Lauren Moore, Hope Moore and Jamie Moore, all of Keysville; a sister, Angela Moore, of Ringgold; and two brothers, Joseph Moore, and wife, Lisa of Danville, and Monty Moore, and wife, Kim of South Boston.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 4, at 3 p.m. from Moffett Memorial Baptist Church with the Reverend Jeffrey Wright officiating. The family suggests that memorials may be made to the Danville Cancer Association, 2323 Riverside Drive, Suite J, Danville, VA 24540 or to Hospice Support Services, Inc., P.O. Box 2713, Danville, VA 24541.
