The first soldier from the Virginia National Guard's 1st Battalion, 116th Infantry steps off the plane Wednesday after serving on federal active duty in Iraq since March 2010. After being greeted by senior leaders from the Virginia Guard at the Roanoke Regional Airport, soldiers boarded buses for their home armories in Bedford, Christiansburg and Lexington, including soldiers from the Farmville-based Company A.
