Celebration Of Life Held Sunday For Evelyn M. Lawrence, 84

JANUARY 5 – Evelyn Motley Lawrence, 84, of Farmville passed away Thursday, December 31, 2009 at her residence. She was born October 20, 1925 in Nottoway, the daughter of the late Leonard Andrew and Florence Norton Motley. She retired as a bookkeeper from Longwood Well Drilling.

She was a dedicated church pianist at many churches and volunteered at many organizations, including nursing homes, library and read books to the children at day care. She also worked at Prince Edward Mills. Mrs. Lawrence was a woman of strong faith. She was a member at Heritage Baptist Church. She was the widow of Lee Andrew Lawrence.

She is survived by her daughter, Shirley Lawrence and special friend, Danny Gaines of Farmville and his son, Sam Gaines and special friend, Kim and baby girl, Astra “Punkee”; a son, Jackie Lawrence and wife, Kari Melloh of Indialantic, FL and their daughter, Kristin L. Hatt and husband, Joshua of Palm Bay, FL; a special aunt and friend, Fleta Motley; special dog, Snoopy; her extended family at Milnwood Village and caregiver, Katrina and special friend and caregiver, Julie Sitz. She was preceded in death by her sister, Beulah Jones and her brother, Junior Motley.

A celebration of her life was held Sunday at the chapel of Puckett Funeral Home with interment in Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of the Hills, 3300 Rivermont Ave., Lynchburg, VA 24501.

Puckett Funeral Home, Farmville, was in charge of arrangements.
