Carolyn Lail, 65

LYNCHBURG, Nov. 5 – Carolyn Sue Corbin Bagenstose Lail, 65, of Lynchburg, died Monday, October 26, 2009 at her residence. She was born on September 3, 1944 in Buchanan County to the late Marie Shortridge Corbin and Robert Marion Corbin. She was married to the late Larry Lail.

She graduated from Johnston Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Abingdon in 1964 and Johns Hopkins University School of Alcoholism Counselors in Baltimore, Maryland in 1977. She was employed as an alcoholism and substance abuse counselor at the Naval Regional Medical Center in Portsmouth from 1976 to 1980 and worked as a registered nurse for most of her career in various hospitals and health care facilities throughout the Commonwealth. She retired after many years of serving patients and their families as a registered nurse in the opthalmology practice of Dr. Ripon Laroche, II.

She was a loving mother, devoted grandmother and a kind and loving friend who enjoyed reading, needlework, basket weaving, college football and animals.

She is survived by a daughter, Anita Munyak and husband, Don of Midlothian; three grandchildren, Jacob, Megan and Lindsey Munyak; brothers, Gary Corbin and wife, Patricia of Renton, Washington and Stephen Corbin.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, at the chapel of Jeffress Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 304 Lusardi Drive, Brookneal with Pastor Mike Dotson, officiating.
