Carlton B. Noel, 82 Farmville Native Dies In Salem

PULASKI, Dec. 1 – Carlton B. Noel, 82, died Monday, November 9, 2009, at the Salem Virginia Veterans Administration Hospital. He was a resident of Pulaski.
He was born on June 14, 1927 in Farmville to Arthur and Cora Noel. After graduating from Farmville High School, he attended both Hampden-Sydney College and Lynchburg College and graduated from Lynchburg College with a B.S. degree.
Mr. Noel served in the U.S. Army from 1945 to 1947 achieving the rank of Sergeant during the occupation of Europe immediately following the end of WWII. He lived his entire life in Virginia except for brief periods in his beloved New Mexico.
He had a great passion for life and was an enthusiastic traveler of the United States traversing all corners of the country throughout his life. Never one to scorn new technology, he learned to use the computer at 80 years of age and became a modest expert with the internet. He was also an avid follower of the financial markets that continued until the end of his life.
Surviving is his son, Richard L. Noel of Kirkland, WA. He was preceded in death by his wife, Billie M. Noel, and brothers, Winston O. Noel and Lloyd Staton Noel.
Interment arrangements were handled by Stevens Funeral Home of Pulaski. At his request, no memorial services were held.
