CE, Sept. 22 – Carl Edwin “Ed” Jones, 68, of Rice, passed away Saturday, September 19, 2009 in Farmville. He was born August 25, 1941 in Erwin, Tennessee, the son of the late John Frank and Ida Mae Tipton Jones. He was the owner of Ed's Automotive and Glass Company and C.E. Jones and Son Construction Company. He was preceded in death by his seven siblings.

He is survived by his children, Margaret “Margie” J. Franklin and husband, Dexter C. of Prospect, John F. “Jeff” Jones and wife, Beverly W. of Chase City, Keary M. Mariannino and husband, Michael B. of Rice, Melissa S. Wallace and husband, Steven C. of Rice, Amanda I. Jancart and husband, Michael A. of Nelson and Sarah K. Ford and husband, Travis D. of Rustburg; brother, Johnny Jones of Oilville; sisters, Mary Krohn of Chesterfield, Esteen Murrey of Midlothian, Carolyn Scott of Tennessee and thirteen grand-children, Tirzah and Rainy Jancart, Ethan and Elijah Jones, Devin and Nicholas Mariannino, Jessica and Josephine Ford, Curtis and Tyler Franklin, Dylan, Katherine and Charles Wallace.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, at 2 p.m. at the chapel of Puckett Funeral Home with interment in Trinity Memorial Gardens in Rice.

Family will receive friends Tuesday evening 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Calvary Tabenacle Church Playground Fund.
