SEPTEMBER 9 – Elizabeth Hodges Tipton, “Betty”, 80, died Sunday, September 7, 2008 at Brookview Nursing Home, Farmville.
Born on December 4, 1927 and a lifelong resident of Keysville, she was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. and Mrs. John A. Tipton Jr. She graduated from State Teachers College (Longwood University) and received her Masters Degree from Madison (James Madison University). She wrote for the Charlotte Gazette and the Farmville Herald for many years.
She is survived by a sister, Patty Tipton Pugh and husband, Sumner of Farmville; a brother, John A. Tipton IV and wife, Joan of Keysville; and eight nieces and nephews, Rick Pugh and wife, Lisa, Scott Pugh, Anne Pugh, Tammy Tipton-Nay, Lisa McCoig and husband, Danny, John Howard Tipton and wife, Jefanna, Lauren Tipton and Matthew Tipton.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. at the Keysville United Methodist Church with interment at Ash Camp Memorial Cemetery.
