Although Arthur lost his hearing at the age of fifteen, he did not let this prevent him from accomplishing things, such as learning seven languages. Arthur was an avid reader, fisherman, and pool player in his younger years. He was an accomplished painter and chess player. Along with this, he was well known for the pleasure he took creating wood figures and projects. When he wasn't reading, fishing or working on a wood project, Arthur loved to educate himself and was constantly doing logic puzzles to strengthen his mind.
