APRIL 27 – Annie L. Gaines Morris, 99, of Farmvllle, died Thursday, April 22, 2004 In Farmvllle.
She was born April 14, 2004 in Greenfield, near Charlotte Court House in Charlotte County, a daughter of the late John Carter and Mary E. Williams Gaines. She was the widow of Grayson Branch Morris.
Mrs. Morris did her teacher training at Longwood (Farmvllle State Teachers' College), taught at Red Oak and Vincent's school in Charlotte County. After her marriage in 1929 they resided in Baltimore, MD, Norfolk and finally in Richmond while her husband worked for Southern States Cooperative. She was a master gardener and flower show Judge. She founded the Willard Park Garden Club in Norfolk and was an early member of the Monument Hills Garden Club in Richmond. She had lived in Farmville, first at Brookview Lodge and the Holly Manor since 1989.
She is survived by her sister, Jane G. Cotman; her son, Grayson B. Morris, Jr. and his wife, Margaret; her daughter, Mary Lou Wolsey and her husband, Wayne; four grandchildren, Pam M. Krzeski and her husband, Kevin, David G. Morris, Carole L. Pankow and her husband, Todd and Roger W. Wolsey and his wife, Shandra and five great-grandchildren, Jessica and Sean Krzeski, Kendra and Evan Pankow and Andrew Wolsey and several nieces and nephews and their children. She was preceded in death by her brothers, William C. Gaines and John C. Gaines, Jr. and sisters, Susie Holloway, Elizabeth Pollok and Florence R. Gaines.
A graveside service was held 2 p.m. Monday in Centenary United Methodist Church Cemetery, Madisonville.
