Retired Postal Worker, Hester Morgan Forbes, Dies May 31 At Home

ANDERSONVILLE, June 1 – Hester Morgan Forbes, widow of J. Branch Forbes, born July 22, 1918, died at her home in Andersonville, on Monday, May 31, 2010.

She served in the Andersonville Post Office for 57 years before retiring in 1996, the last 21 years succeeding her late husband who had been postmaster from 1934 to 1975. She was a charter member of the Women's Club of Buckingham County, a lifelong member of Bethel United Methodist Church and an avid home-pond fisherman.

Mrs. Forbes is survived by three daughters, Sandra F. Moss of Dillwyn, Susan F. Bomar of Andersonville, and Nan F. Bradley of Midlothian; four grandchildren, William M. Moss, Melanie Moss Farrish, Robin Moss Allen, and Amy Moss Lawhorne; seven great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sister, Rita Morgan Stone of Richmond; and her primary caregiver, Shirley W. Shumaker of Buckingham.

Graveside service will be held on Thursday, June 3 at 11 a.m. at Bethel United Methodist Church in Andersonville.
