Rachel C. Lietzke, 91 Of Farmville Dies Wed., July 7

JULY 13 – Rachel Chapman Lietzke, 91, residing at The Woodlands in Farmville, went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, July 7, 2010. She was born on January 9, 1919, in Alexander County, NC, a daughter of the late Fannie and Charles Reese.

Ms. Lietzke graduated from Valparaiso University with a degree in English and Biology. She was a devoted wife, mother, public school teacher, Sunday school teacher, Bible study leader and prison ministry worker. She was a founding member of Resurrection Lutheran Church in Newport News. In retirement, Ms. Lietzke, with her husband Don, moved to Nellysford and became an active member of Bethany Lutheran Church and an avid gardener.

She is survived by a son, Timothy Allen Lietzke of Keysville; daughter, Donna L. Sexton-Cook of Murrels Inlet, SC; and granddaughter, Sarah Chapman Sexton of Murrels Inlet, SC, in whose life she played an integral roll. She was preceded in death by her husband, Don, to whom she was married for 63 years.

Ms. Lietzke was a loving mother and grandmother who will be greatly missed.

Services will be private with interment in Peninsula Memorial Park in Newport News.
