PE County Native “Pete” Watson, 81 Dies Friday, June 4

SOUTH BOSTON, June 8 – Funeral service for Haile Otto “Pete” Watson, 81, was held Monday at Powers Funeral Home with burial in Gettys Cemetery. The Rev. Fran Bragan officiated.

Memorials may be made to Lake Wateree Presbyterian Church or Rowan Presbyterian Church.

Mr. Watson died Friday, June 4, 2010. Born in Roanoke, he was a son of the late Haile O. Watson and Epsie Baldwin Vale. A graduate of Farmville High School in Farmville, he attended UNC Chapel Hill. He was former owner of Green Hills Golf Course in Lugoff. He was a member of Lake Wateree Presbyterian Church.

Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Eloise Parker Gettys Watson; son, Butch Watson (Lynda) of Lugoff; daughters, Mary “Boo” Hallman (John) of Williamston, SC, Sarah Oliver (Richard) of Lugoff, Lisa Edwards (Mark) of Lugoff, and Abby Chesnutt (David) of Rock Hill, SC; brothers, David Lee Watson of Midlothian, Richard Watson of Panama City, FL, and Wally Vale of Charleston, SC; sister, Leona Gowens of Lilburn, GA; 13 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by three brothers and three sisters.
