Memorial Service Set Friday For Mary H. Martin, 91

NOVEMBER 13 – A memorial service will be held Friday, November 14 at 2 p.m. for Mary Heston Martin, 91, of Farmville, who died November 6, 2003. Miss Martin's graveside service was conducted in North Carolina this week by the Rev. Dr. Joe McCutchen and her nephew, the Rev. Dr. William Thompson. Those same ministers will lead her memorial service.

Miss Martin moved to Farmville from Winston-Salem, NC in 1999, where she had been a longtime resident, and a former Latin teacher in the public schools of that city. She had traveled on several overseas trips that were sponsored by the Esther Atkinson Museum of Hampden-Sydney. She was an acquaintance of a number of people in this area and was a member of Farmville Presbyterian Church.

She is survived by a sister, Sara Frances Martin Thompson of Farmville; a nephew, the Rev. Thompson, of Farmville; a niece, Marjorie Martin Pierce of Mount Olive, NC; three great-nephews;

a great-niece; and five great-great-nieces. A brother, W. Heston Martin of Hilton Head, SC, predeceased her.

Memorial gifts may be made to the College Presbyterian Church Building Fund, Box 13, Hampden-Sydney, or to Hospice of Central Virginia, 202 dark Street, Farmville.
