FLORIDA, April 6 – John Patton “Pat” Williams died on Sunday, March 28, 2010 at home in Ft. Myers, FL, where he and his wife of 58 years, Bettye Anne “B” Williams, spent the winter months. They lived in Versailles, KY, until 2007 when they moved to Farmville to be near their children.

Born in Paintsville, KY, on January 31, 1929, to Georgianna and Oscar Williams, he graduated from Paintsville High School and the University of Kentucky. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War and retired as a Captain. Mr. Williams worked as a salesman for Proctor & Gamble, and then as a business manager for McLoney & Tune Architects. His greatest career satisfaction came from his partnership with Harold Mullis and Ted Hahn in Southcreek Properties, a real estate development firm in Lexington, KY.

Mr. Williams enjoyed people, music, and the challenge of golf. But most of all, he loved to read good books. He was active in the Versailles community, including service as chair of the Woodford County Zoning Board. As a member of the Versailles Baptist Church, he was a long-time Sunday School teacher and served on several committees. In Farmville, he was a member of the Farmville United Methodist Church.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by their daughter, Pam and her children, Anne Cabell and Mitchell Butler of Farmville; son, Marc and wife, Nancy and their children, Jack, Ford, and Bridget Williams of Alexandria; son, Larry and wife, Margo and their children, Lea and Anne Williams also of Alexandria; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at the Versailles Baptist Church on Saturday, May 8, at 1 p.m. with a reception following the service at Holly Hill in Midway, KY.

The family requests donations in memory of Mr. Williams to Oneida Baptist Institute, a Christian boarding and day school, at Box 67, Oneida, KY 40972.
