NEW CANTON, April 15 – Ernie Piercy Yancey, 93, of New Canton, passed away peacefully Tuesday, April 13, 2010. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Garland Yancey Sr.

She is survived by a son, John Garland Yancey Jr.; daughter, Lyndelle Y. Dodson, and husband, Tim; grandsons, Alex and Drew Dodson; and a sister, Grace Lee Lipscomb of Richmond.

Mrs. Yancey will be remembered for her tireless patience, her selflessness towards others, her never ending love to family, fondness for animals, and dedication to her church. We will cherish all the stories, laughter and fun we shared. She especially loved to play and spend time with her grandsons.

Her remains rest at Dunkum Funeral Home.

The family will receive visitors on Thursday, April 15 from 6-8 p.m. at Arvon Baptist Church in Arvonia.

Graveside funeral services will be held at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in New Canton on Fri-day, April 16 at 2 p.m.

Donations may be made to Arvon Baptist Church.
