Funeral Service To Be Held Wednesday For Rev. Marvin Cook, 89

CULPEPER, June 29 – Rev. Marvin Claude “Windy” Cook, 89, of Culpeper, passed away in the Culpeper Regional Hospital, Culpeper, on Sunday, June 27, 2010. Rev. Cook was born in Rappahannock County to James Philip Cook and Ruth Eastham Cook, July 25, 1920; served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II.

The Rev. and Mrs. Cook were married June 13, 1942 in the Ocean View Methodist Church, now the Miles Memorial United Methodist Church, Norfolk. He began his ministry as a lay-minister at Willis Chapel in Huntly. After being ordained, he served the Nelson Charge, Nelson County, in Arrington, Elmington, Lovingston and Shipman; the Duncan Memorial United Methodist Church in Berryville; the Farmville United Methodist Church and the Culpeper United Methodist Church, where he retired in 1986. After retirement, he served at Jeffersonton United Methodist Church.

Surviving include his wife, Danna Richardson Cook of Culpeper; his children, Claude Richardson Cook and wife, Sharron of Mt. Clemens, MI and Linda Cook Kemp and husband, Jim of Tullahoma, TN; his sib-lings, Robert C. Cook and wife, Wanda of Winchester, and Eve-lyn Cook Walker of Culpeper; grandchildren, Melaney C. Smith and husband, Bayne, Cooper R. Cook and wife, Tina, Taylor C. Alexander and husband, David and Austin R. Cook; and great-grandchildren, Shelby, Sidney and Janie. Pre-ceding him in death are his parents, his siblings, J. Warren Cook, Wilmer Cook and Margaret Roberson and his grandson, John Kevin Driver.

Funeral services will be held in the Culpeper United Methodist Church, Wednesday, June 30, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Randy Orndorff conducting the service. Interment will be in the New Culpeper National Cemetery, Chandler Street, Culpeper. The American Legion Post 330 and V.F.W. Post 2524 Honor Guard will provide military honors.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, June 29, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the Clore-English Funeral Home.
