Funeral Service To Be Held Saturday For Donte Woodson, 20

APRIL 22 – On Sunday, April 18, 2010 Donte Dorrell Woodson was called to his eternal rest in Goochland. He was born on July 15, 1989 in Prince Edward County, to Ron Maurice Walker (biological father Dwayne Baker) and Sonya Marie Walker.

Donte was baptized at a young age at Race Street Baptist Church. He graduated from Prince Edward County High School in 2007, where he was an athlete. Donte played football from the early age of six until he graduated from high school. In recognition of his dedication, Donte was a High School Heisman nominee for the state of VA as well as a Tuskegee Airmen Scholarship recipient. The high-light of Donte's happiness was being a part of the Gentlemen By Choice men's group. Donte attended North Carolina A&T University in Greensboro, N.C. While at A&T, he was an Architectural Engineering major. While in North Carolina, Donte was a part of the Evolution Production Firm.

In 2009, he returned home and began working for the HOPE Community Services Board in Farmville. Donte was a loving and caring brother, uncle, cousin and friend. He leaves us with endless memories that have brought us joy and laughter and the lasting gift of a beautiful life.

Donte leaves to cherish his parents, Sonya and Ron Walker (biological father Dwayne Baker), Joseph Sprague; sisters, Khadyjia Michelle Woodson and Mya Nicole Walker, brothers, Cortez and DaQuan Vaughan; nephew, Cortez Vaughan Jr.; great-grandparents, Catherine Randall, Edward and Ernestine Herndon, and Sadie Walker; grandparents, Henry and Joyce Reed, David and Sandra Woodson, Betty Ann Roy, and Mable Word, uncles, David Woodson Jr., Paris Woodson, and Tyrone Woodson; aunts, Alma Spragues, Frances Langston, Andrea Word, Martha Word, Shatina Walker, Diane Lynch, Yvette Walker, Vonita E. Woodson, Tonya Walker, Jennifer Haskins, Christopher Robin-son, Elijah M. Cooley, and Shon Goode and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins who all were very special and loved.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 24 at 1:30 p.m. at the Prince Edward County High School Auditorium with the Rev. Dr. James H. Taylor III and the Rev. Kitty Smith officiating.
