JANUARY 6 – Alice Forbes Dorrier, 95, of Brookview Lodge, Farmville and Scottsville, died Saturday, January 3, 2004.

The widow of John W. Dorrier, she was the daughter of the late James H. Forbes and Julia Gilliam Forbes.

She is survived by her sister-in-law, Mrs. J. Branch Forbes of Andersonville; her nieces, Sandra F. Moss of Dillwyn, Susan F. Bomar of Andersonville and Nan F. Bradley of Midlothian; her great-nephew, Billy Moss and great-nieces, Melanie Farrish, Robin Alien and Amy Lawhorne all of Dillwyn. Members of her extended family were Bea and Phil Keaton of Lake Montlcello. Bea was her companion and friend for many years.

Mrs. Dorrier received her formal education at the School for the Deaf at Staunton. She was active in the deaf community and was a member of the Blue Ridge Senior Deaf Group. In later years, she came to regard Brookview as her home and enjoyed her excursions with Mrs. Keaton. During 2003 she received additional care from two very special people, Leigh Ann Brown and Peggy Borum.

A funeral service was held at Dunkum Funeral Home, Dillwyn, at 1 p.m. Monday with interment in New Store Presbyterian Church In Buckingham County.
