CHARLOTTE CH, Oct. 4 -Raymond Howard Ramsey, Sr.,
78, of Charlotte Court House, died Sunday, October 2, 2005 in Virginia Baptist
Hospital.
Born in Charlotte Court House, May 14, 1927, he
was a son of the late Thomas W. and Ina Taylor Ramsey.
Mr. Ramsey proudly served his country as a Marine
Veteran of World War II. He was a member and deacon of Concord Baptist Church, a
retired merchant and farmer and a regular blood donor.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Alyne
Irby Ramsey; three sons, Raymond Howard Ramsey, Jr. of Yorktown, Gary Thomas
Ramsey and wife, Susie of Appomattox and Michael Anthony Ramsey of Evergreen and
a grandson, Raymond Howard Ramsey, III.
Funeral services will be held 4 p.m. Wednesday at
Concord Baptist Church, Charlotte Court House, by the Rev. Tony Reeves, with
burial following in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Robinson

Powhatan, widower of Paulus C. Gills, died Sunday, October 2, 2005.
She is survived by two sons, James C. Gills and
wife, Elizabeth and Thomas L. Gills all of Powhatan; eight daughters, Ruth G.
Copper of Indiana, Bertha G. Kantzler of Amelia, Nancy G. Barden and husband,
Rucker of Midlothian, Virginia G. McKenzie of Quinton, Dorothy G. Cannon and
husband, John of Barboursville, Helen G. Bryan and husband. Nick of Cumberland,
Patricia G. Pepper and husband. Billy of Cartersville, Charlotte G. Sims and
husband, Monty of Richmond; four sisters, Mildred C. Carter of Richmond, Ila C.
Stuart of Lexna, Martha C. Sherrod of Richmond and Mary C. Goodwyn of Powhatan;
two brothers, Jack Clayton of Powhatan and Monroe Clayton of Newport News; 22
grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. She
was preceded in death by three sons. Allen W., Paulus C. and David A. Gills and
two granddaughters, Janet M. and Catherine M. Gills.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday in
the Hob-son Chapel United Methodist Church, Powhatan, with interment in the
church cemetery.

was the widow of Ronald Lee Dickinson.

teacher for Fauquier County and most recently for Greenville County.
She is survived by her husband, Steve
Derrenbacker; her twin daughters, Lori and Lynn Derrenbacker all of the home;
two brothers, David Zimmerman of Chapel Hill, North Carolina and John Franklin
Zimmerman of Jarratt; her sister, Mildred Reynolds of Jarratt and her
mother-in-law, Blanche Barlow of Farmville.

CHARLOTTE CH, Sept. 29 -John Foley Guidt, II, 69,
of Charlotte Court House, died Sunday, September 18, 2005 at his home.
He was the widower of Margaret Harmon Guidt and
the son of Mary Cecelia Moore and John Foley Guidt.
Mr. Guidt graduated from Benedictine high School
in Richmond and supported the school in many activities. He continued his
education, graduating from Villanova University in Pennsylvania in 1965. He
enjoyed working in education most of his lee retiring in June 1997 as the
Director of Special Education and Gifted Education for Charlotte County. He also
gave his time and received certificates of service for volunteering at Southside
Community Hospital in Farmville while serving on the Auxiliary Unit and was a
member of the Board of Directors of the Briery Country Club in Keysvllle.
He is survived by his aunt, Sally Moore of
Richmond and several cousins.
Christian memorial services will be held 11 a.m.
Saturday, October 1 at the St. Theresa Catholic Church, Farmville, with Father
Carl DeSouza officiating. Entombment will take place privately in Mt. Calvary
Cemetery Mausoleum in Richmond.
Memorial contributions may be made to the
American Red Cross, Hurricane Relief Fund, for the victims of Katrina and Rita.

Watts, 83, of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, died Friday, September 23, 2005 at
her home.
She was born August 9, 1922 In Dunn, NC, a
daughter of the late James Forest Jackson and Mary D. Barefoot Jackson.
She is survived by her husband of almost 61
years. Harry Watts; children, Marilyn W. Os-born and husband, Richard of
Farmville; Roberta Hayes and husband, Colin of Charlotte, NC and James H. Watts,
III and wife, Eveline of Boone, NC; sisters, Lillian Glover of Cary, NC, Mary
Alice Hunt (Joseph) of Virginia Beach and Glenda Carson (Charles) of Chesapeake;
brothers, Gene Jackson (Edna) of Smithfield, NC, James Edward Jackson and Walter
Jackson (Sue) both of Dunn, NC; grandchildren, Nash Osborn and wife Louise,
James Osborn, James Watts, IV, Mariska Watts and Ian Watts. She was preceded in
death by a sister, Dorothy Raso.
After her husband retired from the Marine Corps
in 1968, they moved to Winston-Salem. She was an active member of First
Christian Church and was employed with US Airways as a reservation specialist,
retiring in 1992.

at First Christian Church, with Dr. Mike Simpson officiating.

PHILIPPINES, Sept. 27 - Jacinto Q. Camomot, 96,
died Tuesday, September 20, 2005 at his home in Carcar, Cebu Philippines.
He was born November 20, 1908 in Carcar, Cebu, a
son of the late Remegia Quijano and Zacarias Camomot. He was preceded in death
by his wife, Brigida Echavez Camomot of Mandawe City, Philippines.
He is survived by all his children, Lydia E.
Camomot of Cebu City, Philippines, Gamaliel E. Camomot and his wife, Lourdes
Mediante Camomot MD of Iligan City, Philippines, Nimfa Camomot Dumol of Los
Angeles, California and Vilma Camomot Witten, MD of Farmville married to
Prosecutor, Rodrigo T. Eguia of Manila, Philippines; nine grandchildren and ten
great-grandchildren.
Mr. Camomot was a retired supervisor of Public
School System, Carcar District and was very active with the community.
A funeral service will be held October 1 at the
St. Catherine Catholic Church in Carcar, Cebu. Interment will follow at the
Family Mausoleum.

Dies in Pennsylvania
SEPTEMBER 27 - Margaret Anne Johnson, 61, of
Mechanicsburg, PA, died Thursday, September 22, 2005, at her home surrounded by
her family.
She was born April 30, 1944 in Farmville, a
daughter of Estelle Holmes of Farmville and the late David E. Holmes. She was
the widow of Lany E. Johnson.
Mrs. Johnson was formerly employed at the
Harrisburg Seaplane Base, Wormleysburg. She graduated in 1997 from Penn State
University with a degree in accounting.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by; two sons, David of California and
Paul Johnson of Pennsylvania; two sisters, Pattye Tomlin of Madison Heights and
Nancy Hall of Florida; grandchildren, Raelynn, Randi and Roxi.
Memorial services were held 11 a.m. Monday in the
Musselman Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., Lemoyne, PA.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, October

Obituary

Ruth Cohen
In honor of the passing of Ruth Cohen, who passed away on September
14, 2005 in Farmville, Virginia at age 86.
Mrs. Cohen was born in Brooklyn, NY and lived most of her life in
upstate New York before moving to Dillwyn, Virginia twelve years ago.
She has now joined her beloved husband, Samuel, and daughter, Arlene, in
everlasting peace.
She is survived by her two sons, Lester Cohen, of Houston, Texas and
Michael Cohen, of Dillwyn, Virginia. Also surviving Mrs. Cohen are her
loving daughter-in-law, Amy Cohen, of Dillwyn, Virginia, along with
seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral and memorial service will be arranged in New York.

Ruby Lancaster Hawkins
Family and friends
commemorated a Homegoing Service in East Elmhurst, NY for Ruby Lancaster
Hawkins, 92, who passed on August 26, 2005. Affectionately known as "Granny" by
her grandchildren and others who knew her well. Ruby was the third of five
daughters of Florence Puryear Lancaster and C.H. Lancaster. Reared in a devout
Christian family through the First Baptist Church in Farmville, she eventually
joined the First Baptist Church of East Elmhurst, NY, where she was a loyal and
dedicated member until sickness befell her.
Religion and education were important goals of
the Lancaster family. Accordingly, Ruby, a bright, determined student, graduated
with honors in the first graduating class of the historic R.R. Moton High
School. After graduation she moved to New York City to further her education.
Following that she worked as Supervising Clerk of the Nurses' Library of in the
Queens Hospital Center School of Nursing for over 25 years. Countless nurses and
other medical professionals in-training were grateful for her superb knowledge
and research skills that helped them achieve their goals.
Ruby Lancaster Hawkins was predeceased by her
husband, Colonel Melvin A. Hawkins, Sr. in March 2005, her youngest sister,
Florence Verbena Lancaster, New York City, passed. Earlier, her parents Florence
and Charles Lancaster and older sisters Margaret Lancaster Downer, Sadie Belle
Lancaster Money also joined their Savior.
Warm memories of Ruby are shared by her children.

Sr., 77, of Prospect, died Tuesday, September 20, 2005 at his home.
He was the son of Ola Mae Tolbert and Charles
Coleman and was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Amy Lynn Coleman.
Mr. Coleman was a retired carpenter and worked In
commercial building for Kelstrom & Lee Construction Company and was a cattle
farmer.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Alice S.
Coleman; six children, Jane Metcalf of South Boston, Nancy Robertson of
Burkeville, Judy Walker of Charlottesvllle, E. Lee Coleman, Jr. of Prospect,

LYNCHBURG, Sept. 20 -Ruby Lee Rosen Thompson died
Monday, September 19, 2005 at her home following a long illness. She was 83.
She was the daughter of the late Richard Branch
and Lucy Coleman Rosen of Buckingham County.
She was the widow of Morris Taliaferro Thompson
and is survived by her two children, Richard (Rick) Thompson and his wife
Claudia, of Beavercreek, OH, and Jane Mitchell and her husband John of
Lynchburg: four grandchildren. Laurel Fauber and Anna Mitchell of Lynchburg,
Lucas Thompson and his wife Marissa, of Dayton, OH, and Linda Thompson dark and
her husband John, of Centerville, OH; one brother, J. Cullen Rosen and his wife
Sarah, of Buckingham, and one sister-in-law, Virginia Rosen of Westminster, MD;
one niece, Peggy Rosen Bair of Westminster, MD, one nephew, Carl Coleman Rosen,
Jr. and his wife Sue, of Roanoke, and special devoted caregivers, Janice
Privette and Valerie Musgrove. She was preceded in death by one brother, Carl
Coleman Rosen, Sr., and one nephew, Jeffrey C. Rosen.
A graduate of Phillips Business College, she was
interested in community affairs, and a lover of nature and wild life. Throughout
Mrs. Thompson's active years, she enjoyed life to the fullest. She was one of
the original organizers of the Tim-brook Women's Club and the Dig and Dream
Garden Club. Her church family is the congregation of St. Andrews Presbyterian
Church, where she and Morris were charter members.
The family will gather with friends and neighbors
from 6 to 8 p.m. this evening (Tuesday), September 20 at 247 Greenwell Court.
Please join in a celebration of life and service for Ruby at St. Andrews
Presbyterian Church at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, September 21.

Tiffany M. Johnson, 16
Of Meherrin
Dies Tuesday
MEHERRIN, Sept. 20 - Tiffany Marie Johnson, 16,
of Meherrin, died Tuesday, September 13,2005.
She was born October 11, 1988, a daughter of
Kevin Dwight and Terri Daniel Johnson.
She was a junior at Randolph-Henry High School,
an employee of Greenhouse Florist and a teen counselor for the Charlotte County
4-H Club. She was deeply loved by her chorus family at Randolph-Henry High
School, her family at Emmanuel Bible Church, her Golden Unicorn Stable Family
and the Charlotte County 4-H Hoofbeats Family. She will be greatly missed by all
who knew her.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by a
sister, Stephanie Michele Johnson; paternal grandfather, Howard Dwight Johnson;
maternal grandmother, Dale Sadler Elder and maternal great-grandmother, Mary
Sadler. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandmother, Mary Catherine
Johnson and maternal great-grandfather, Percy Sadler.
Funeral services were held 2 p.m. Saturday in the
Emmanuel Bible Church, Keysville, with Interment in the church cemetery.

Hazel T. Woodie, 81
Held Wednesday
SEPTEMBER 20 - Hazel T. Woodie, 81, of Farmville,
died Sunday, September 11, 2005. She was the widow of Alfred Woodie and was
predeceased by a son, Thomas W. Woodie.
She is survived by four children, Peggy W.
Hudgins, and husband, Fred of Moseley, Larry A. Woodie and wife, Betty of
Farmville, Linda W. Ballowe and husband, Billy of Troy and Wanda W. Baird and
husband, Harvey of Scottsville; ten grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held 2 p.m. Wednesday at
Concord Baptist Church of which she was a life long member. Interment followed
in the church cemetery.
Shorter Funeral Home, Farmville, was in charge of
arrangements.

Nicole L. Zimolong, 19
Longwood Student
Dies September 12
SEPTEMBER 20 - Nicole Lyle
Zimolong, 19, of Farmville, formerly of Pennsauken, NY, died Monday, September
12, 2005.
She was the beloved daughter of Carl and Dorothy
Knorr Zimolong and is also survived by two sisters, Jamie (Jonathan) Farris of
Maryland and Heather Zimolong of Pennsauken and her maternal grandmother,
Dorothy Knorr of Avalon.
She was a 2005 graduate of Moorestown High
School, and served as a student ambassador for People to People. She was
currently attending Longwood University, where she was majoring in art and
playing women's rugby. She was active in the South Jersey Girls Travel Soccer
League, a volunteer for the Garden State Animal Shelter and previously had
worked for the Moorestown YMCA.
Funeral Mass was held Saturday at 10 a.m. at St.
Cecilia's Church, Pennsauken, NJ. Interment private.
