Community dinner set

Fitzgerald Memorial Baptist Church located at 14 Fitzgerald Road in Cumberland will be hosting a free Community Dinner on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. If you plan to attend please call (804) 492-5151 by Friday and leave your name and phone number and how many will be in attendance.

Our sympathy is extended to the Layman family of Cumberland in the loss of their family member last week.

Cumberland Community Church located 1542 Anderson Highway across from Cumberland County Library cordially invites you to attend Sunday morning worship service each and every Sunday morning from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.

The regular monthly meeting of the Cumberland County Board of Supervisors is held each second Tuesday of the month at 7 p.m. in the Circuit Court Room unless otherwise announced.

A speedy recovery is sent out this week to all those sick and shut in.

Our sympathy is extended to Grace Hudgins and Mae Rutherford, both of Cumberland, in the death of their nephew Jack Figgins, of Front Royal, who passed away last week.

Spreading God’s Gifts Inc. a non-profit organization serving Buckingham and surrounding counties in helping people in their hour of need will be hosting a benefit Valentine’s Dinner and dinner music Saturday at 5 p.m. at First Baptist on Main Street in Dillwyn. Dinner to include roast beef, baked potato, green beans, fruit salad, roll, dessert and beverage all for a donation. You may eat in or take out. Cedar Baptist Church located 3932 Bell Road in Dillwyn will be hosting a Valentine’s Dinner on Sunday at 5 p.m. followed by games. Pastor Tommy Armstrong and the congregation cordially invite everyone to attend.

Shiloh New Covenant Church located about five miles east of Cumberland Courthouse at 665 Anderson Highway partnering with Central Virginia FeedMore Program will be operating The Shiloh New Covenant Food Pantry Commodity Supplemental Food Program seniors age 60 years and older. Food will be distributed on Tuesday from 1-3 p.m. and they will be accepting applications for new clients, for all seniors 60 and older who are a Cumberland county resident and income quality. Those interested must bring a photo ID and proof of your monthly income. Also when you become qualified for this food program, you will be contacted by phone from the food bank director when you can start your pick up for the food.

Due to Presidents Day on Feb. 19, Cumberland Community Cares Food Bank partnering with The Central Virginia Food Bank Mobile Unit, A FeedMore Program of Richmond will be distributing food to Cumberland County residents on Monday from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. or until all food is gone located at the old Cumberland County Elementary School Cafeteria next door to the gym located 1874 Anderson Highway. Those in attendance must have already registered to get food or you must see the director Jerry Seal.
