FEBRUARY 23

MOAA TO MEET, 1 p.m. at Riverside Café in Farmville. This month’s topic is a Rail Trip Across Canada with emphasis on The Battle of the Plains of Abraham (1759). All active, former and retired military officers and spouses (or widows/ widowers of officers) are welcome.

FEBRUARY 24

AFRICAN-AMERICAN BANQUET, 3 p.m. sponsored by The United Baptist Association and Women’s Missionary and Educational Convention of Central Virginia at the Frances Redwood Education Center, U.S. Route 15, 27294 N. James Madison Highway, New Canton. The attire for the evening will be the colors black, red, green and gold. The banquet theme will be “Honoring Our Buckingham County Authors.”

FEBRUARY 25

BLACK HISTORY PROGRAM, 3 p.m. at High Bridge Baptist Church presenting four-part Mini Sermons on the Eternal Life Insurance. Dinner will be served at 2 p.m. African attire is encouraged.

BLACK HISTORY CELEBRATION, 3 p.m. at New Bethel Baptist Church, Meherrin. Seven different churches to appear. Attire and tasty cuisine of yesteryear. All are welcome.

BLACK HISTORY PROGRAM, 11 a.m. at The First Baptist Church of Farmville. Speaker will be the Rev. Sherri L. Garrett, pastor of the Beulah AME Church. Music by the youth.

BLACK HISTORY PROGRAM, 2:30 p.m. at Mt. Moriah Upper Room Baptist Church. A light meal will be served. All are welcome.

FAMILY AND FRIENDS DAY, 3 p.m. at Concord Baptist Church. The Rev. Dr. James H, Taylor III, pastor of the Jericho Baptist Church of Farmville, will be in charge of the service. Dinner will be serviced. Everyone is welcome.

FAREWELL DINNER, 11 a.m. at The Forest Baptist Church, Meherrin, for their Pastor Otis and First Lady Janice Spellman. Come and join the church family in appreciating them and their ministry. The Annual Soul Food dinner will be served. All are welcome.

BLACK HISTORY OBSERVANCE, 3 p.m. at New Witt Baptist Church. Special guest will be Pastor Vincent Eanes and the Lone Oak Baptist Church of Keysville. New Witt is located on Farmville Highway South the Rev. Winston Bland is the Pastor. The public is invited.

SIGN-UPS, 11 a.m. for the Big Event to be held at H-S College.

LENTEN SERVICE/ LUNCH, noon at Payne Memorial United Methodist Church, 1 Stoney Point Road, Cumberland. The theme, “Walking in Newness of Life.” Speaker will be the Rev. Lewis Brandt and the topic is A New Walk. Lunch will be provided.

QUARTERLY MEETING, 7 p.m. of the Cumberland Deacons and Trustees at the Center Union Baptist Church, 1053 Old Buckingham Road, Powhatan. Deacons and Trustees of member churches are urged to attend.

BOOK DISCUSSION GROUP, 12:30 p.m., Reading Through Grief, in the Vault Room of the Longwood Barnes and Noble. We will be discussing Option B: Facing Adversity, Building Resilience and Finding Joy by Sheryl Sandberg and Adam Grant. All are welcome.

LENTEN SERVICE, 7 p.m. of the Buckingham Circle Charges of the UMC at Whitehall UMC in Dillwyn. The emphasis will be The Passion of Christ – Healing. Dr. Paul D. Larrimore, pastor of the James River Charge Churches will be preaching.

SPAGHETTI DINNER, sponsored by Beulah United Methodist Women at the Abilene Community Center to benefit the Church Building Fund. Takeouts 4 – 5 p.m. Eat in 5 – 7 p.m. Tickets may be purchased in advance or at the door. Any questions, call Betty Gryder at (434) 223-8343.

DEACON AND DEACONESS ANNIVERSARY, 3 p.m. at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Red House. Pastor Donald Hamlette, Pastor of the Rose Chapel Baptist Church, Madison Heights, along with his choir, ushers and congregation will be the guests. Lunch will be served after morning worship.

PROGRAM, 3 p.m. entitled “The Church” at Tearwallet Baptist Church, Cumberland on U.S. Route 60. Come out and help us lift the name of the Lord.

WOMEN IN COLOR AND MEN IN TIES, 3 p.m. at The First Rock Baptist Church. The guest group will be Marilyn Randolph and the Springfield Mass Choir of Brookneal. This service is being held in memory of Mrs. Juanita Jackson Vaughan. Light refreshments will be served.

SECOND PASTORAL ANNIVERSARY, 11 a.m. at New Hope Baptist Church, 2014 Cartersville Road, Cartersville. Morning worship, 11 a.m. with guest minister the Rev. Alvin Witcher, Jr. of Mount Olive Baptist Church. A fellowship luncheon following the service. Afternoon worship will begin at 3 p.m. with Rev. Patrick W. Bland of Mt. Pero Baptist Church.
