FEBRUARY 18

HISTORICAL SOCIETY MEETING, 2 p.m. at the Cumberland Museum, in the old Clerk’s Office at the Courthouse. Topic will be life growing up in Cumberland in the 40s and 50s. Membership fees for 2018 are due and may be paid at the meeting or mailed to P. O. Box 188, Cumberland, VA 23040.

BLACK HISTORY PROGRAM, noon at The St. Andrews Baptist Church on Taro Road in Cullen. The Honorable Megan Clark, Commonwealth’s Attorney for the County of Prince Edward will be the guest speaker. A soul food dinner will be served.

BLACK HISTORY PROGRAM, 11 a.m. at Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Dillwyn with Pastor Michael Mosley. The afternoon service will begin at 2:30 p.m. Lunch will be served in between services.

BLACK HISTORY PROGRAM, 4 p.m. at Spirit of Life Church of God in Christ. Games, poems, praise dancing and food. Everyone is welcome. Elder Novey Wiley Sr., pastor.

FUN-RAISER FASHION SHOW, 5:30 p.m. at Oakwood United Methodist Church, 1291 Columbia Road, Columbia to support Dena Proctor and the Haiti Medical Mission.

LATIN MASS, 3 p.m. at Lady of Peace Catholic Church, corner of Oarleigh Avenue and River Ridge Road in Appomattox.

FEBRUARY 20

CHARLOTTE COUNTY GRAYS TO MEET, 6:30 p.m. at Sheldon’s Restaurant, Keysville. Meeting of the Sons of Confederate Veterans.

FEBRUARY 21

LENTEN SERVICES/LUNCHEON, noon-1 p.m. at Payne Memorial United Methodist Church. The theme this year is “Walking in Newness of Life.” The speaker will be the Rev. Van Petty and the topic is Choosing the Right Walking Companion. The lunch will be provided by members of the congregation.

FEBRUARY 24

AFRICAN AMERICAN BANQUET, 3 p.m. sponsored by The United Baptist Association and Women’s Missionary and Educational Convention of Central Virginia at the Frances Redwood Education Center, U.S. Route 15, 27294 N. James Madison Highway, New Canton. The attire for the evening will be the colors black, red, green, and gold. The banquet theme will be “Honoring Our Buckingham County Authors.”

BLACK HISTORY PROGRAM, 3 p.m. at High Bridge Baptist Church presenting four-part Mini Sermons on the Eternal Life Insurance. Dinner will be served at 2 p.m. African attire is encouraged.

DEACON AND DEACONESS ANNIVERSARY, 3 p.m. at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Red House.Pastor Donald Hamlette, Pastor of the Rose Chapel Baptist Church, Madison Heights, along with his choir, ushers and congregation will be the guests. Lunch will be served after morning worship.

PROGRAM, 3 p.m. entitled “The Church” at Tearwallet Baptist Church, Cumberland on U.S. Route 60. Please come out and help us lift the name of the Lord.

SILENT AUCTION, DINNER AND RAFFLE, 4:30 p.m. at Holiday Lake 4-H Educational Center, 1267 4-H Camp Road, Appomattox.

ANNUAL DAY, 3 p.m. of the Midway Baptist Church Deacon and Trustee Ministry. Guest preacher will be the Rev. Alvin Witcher Jr., Pastor of Mount Olive Baptist Church, Cumberland along with his choir, ushers and church family. The church is located at 837 Guinea Road. The Rev. Irma T. Watson is Pastor.
