FIFTH PASTORAL ANNIVERSARY, 2:30 p.m. at The Midway Baptist Church, 837 Guinea Road with guest minister the Rev. Dr. Calvin Gray, pastor of New Jerusalem Baptist Church, Appomattox, along with his choir. BLACK HISTORY CELEBRATION, 3 p.m. at New Hope Baptist Church to honor the Life and Legacy of Dr. Carter G. Woodson. Special guest, winners of the Carter G. Woodson essay contest. Music by the Buckingham Community Choir. The evening will conclude with a fellowship hour.

BLACK HISTORY PROGRAM, 3 p.m. of the Youth Department of The High Rock Baptist Church, 567 High Rock Road in Rice. Guest will be The Blackstone Community Chorus.

BLACK HISTORY PROGRAM, 3 p.m. at Jericho Baptist Church, 615 Franklin St. There will be a play entitled “The Gospel Train,” praise dancers and the Youth Choir of First Baptist Church will be on the program. All are welcome.

FEBRUARY 13

THE SPIRIT OF HARRIET TUBMAN, 6:30 p.m. at the Moton Museum Auditorium as performed by Diane Faison is a glimpse into the life of Harriet, some of her thoughts on the Underground Railroad and some of her driving inspirations. Free and open to the public.

FEBRUARY 14

LENTEN SERVICES, noon at Payne Memorial United Methodist Church. The theme this year is “Walking in Newness of Life.” Free luncheons.

HISTORICAL SOCIETY MEETING, 2 p.m. at the Cumberland Museum, in the old Clerk’s Office at the Courthouse. Topic will be life growing up in Cumberland in the 40s and 50s. Membership fees for 2018 are due and may be paid at the meeting or mailed to P. O. Box 188, Cumberland, VA 23040.

BLACK HISTORY PROGRAM, noon at The St. Andrews Baptist Church on Taro Road in Cullen. The Honorable Megan Clark, Commonwealth’s Attorney for Prince Edward County will be the guest speaker. A soul food dinner will be served.

BLACK HISTORY PROGRAM, 11 a.m. at Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Dillwyn with Pastor Michael Mosley. The afternoon service will begin at 2:30 p.m. Lunch will be served in between services.

BLACK HISTORY PROGRAM, 3 p.m. at High Bridge Baptist Church presenting four-part Mini Sermons on the Eternal Life Insurance. Dinner will be served at 2 p.m. African attire is encouraged.
