CCHS forensics team named regional champions

On Saturday, Feb. 10, the Cumberland County High School forensics team competed in regional competition at Galileo Magnet School. Under the direction of Mr. Charles Haigh, the Cumberland team was named the Region 1B Forensics Champions for the fourth consecutive year. Mr. Haigh was named the Coach of the Year for the Region. Winners included the following: Ramir Parker, second place in Extemporaneous Speaking; Dawn Helton, third place in Extemporaneous Speaking; Angela Finchum, first place in Impromptu Speaking; Chyann Taylor, second place in Original Oratory; Penny Dorsey, third place in Storytelling; Tanner Cochran, first place in Humorous Interpretation, Cierra Jeffers, second place Humorous Interpretation; Acadia Czeizinger, first place in Serious Dramatic Interpretation; Blessin Franklin, first place in Prose Interpretation; Carly Thompson, second place in Prose interpretation; Hallye Workman, first place in Poetry Interpretation; Essence Ayers, second place in Poetry Interpretation; Rahemma Fulani and Annabelle Williamson, first place in Humorous Duo; Jamie Jones and Denise Mullins, first place in Serious Duo. Principal Jeffrey Scales congratulated the team on their outstanding accomplishment.
