A single-vehicle crash due to slick road conditions that occurred Tuesday morning at approximately 12:43 a.m. in the 3300 block of Perkins Mill Road resulted in the death of a 37-year-old Buckingham woman and life-threatening injuries to a 50-year-old Buckingham man.

According to Virginia State Police Public Relations Coordinator Corinne Geller, Tawanakie L. Harper was the passenger in a 1997 Toyota Corolla when it ran off the left side of Perkins Mill Road and struck a tree. The male driver was transported to U.Va. Hospital for treatment.

Geller cited slick road conditions and speed as factors in the crash, which remains under investigation at this time. Virginia State Police Trooper G.T. Lee is investigating the accident.
