The Church and Community Events calendar is published each Friday. Items must be submitted by 10 a.m. Monday for that Friday’s calendar. Events should be emailed to communitycalendar@farmvilleherald.com.

MEETING, 7 p.m. of the Farmville Jack Garland American Legion Post 32 and the Legion Auxiliary at the Thomas Hardy Graham VFW Post 7059, 1616 Graham Road. All members and prospective members are invited to attend.

JANUARY 20

DEPARTMENT OF VETERANS SERVICES, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Farmville-Prince Edward Library, 1303 W. Third St., Farmville, weather permitting. Please call the Lynchburg office at (434) 582-5102 for next schedule date and any questions.

JANUARY 21

BENEFIT STEW, 11 a.m. sponsored by the board of deacons at Bethel Baptist Church, on Main Street in Phenix. All proceeds will be going to Central Baptist Church in Appomattox to help with the construction of their church after the damage from last year’s tornado. Stew is $6 per quart.

ALUMNI MEETING, of the the Prince Edward-Cumberland-Buckingham Chapter of Saint Paul’s College at the Farmville-Prince Edward Community Library at 10:30 a.m. This will be the annual potluck meeting. All alumni are encouraged to attend.

JANUARY 22

THE CREWE BOYS TO PERFORM, 6 p.m. at Heritage Baptist Church. Come out and enjoy inspiring and uplifting music. A reception will follow. For more information, call (434) 547-5202.

ANNUAL FELLOWSHIP SERVICE, 3 p.m. at Gravel Hill Baptist, 3357 Cutbanks Road, Pamplin, with Pastor Michael Reid and the Mount Airy Baptist Church of Gladstone. All are welcome.

JANUARY 24

BOARD MEETING, 10:30 a.m. of the Piedmont Soil and Water Conservation in the conference room of the Prince Edward County Natural Resources and Agricultural Building, located at 100 Dominion Drive, in Farmville. The public is invited to attend.

ANNUAL MEETING, 7:30 p.m. of the Friends of the Appomattox River in the Mill Room, 1 Mill St., near Charleys. 

JANUARY 26

EVENING STORY TIME, 7 p.m. at the Farmville-Prince Edward Branch Library for all ages. Pajamas are encouraged but not required for this quiet story time where children can unwind before bed with books, rhymes and activities.

JANUARY 28

YOUTH BOOK SWAP, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Buckingham Branch Library. Start fresh in the new year by bringing in gently used books from home and trade them in for “new to you” books. Board books, picture books, chapter books and any other book intended for children or teens are welcome.

FEBRUARY 11

PASTORAL ANNIVERSARY, 2:30 p.m. at the Midway Baptist Church for the Rev. Irma T. Watson. Praise and prayer service begins at 2:30 p.m. and worship service will begin at 3 p.m. The guest minister will be Elder Keven Caleb, pastor of Thessalonia Baptist Church in Bremo Bluff, along with his choir and ushers. Midway is located at 837 Guinea Road in Farmville. All are welcome.
