Cumberland

The 2016 annual Christmas parade will be held Dec. 11 at 2 p.m. in the village of Cumberland Court House. The 75th anniversary of World War II will be this year’s theme, with entries connected to that time period in some way.

Entries are still being accepted. Applications may be picked up at NAPA and Customer Interiors in Cumberland, Ashby Antiques in Farmville or from Stephany Johnson in the courthouse building. Entrants may also email barbmein@aol.com to receive an emailed application. There is a $10 entry fee to help with expenses. Churches, school organizations, county officials and civic organizations are exempt from the fee.

The parade will start near NAPA on Route 60 and go through the village of Cumberland Court House, ending around the C&S Bank building. A judging stand will be set up by the old drug store.

Dillwyn

The town of Dillwyn’s Christmas parade will take place Dec. 17 beginning at 10 a.m.

As with past parades, floats and more will make their way down U.S. 15, with the lineup at Central Virginia Christian School.

There is no theme, but announcing and judging will again take place at the Buckingham Branch Railroad Station.

And Santa Claus will return to town hall after the parade. For more information about that and the parade, call town hall at (434) 983-2076.
