A Dillwyn man has been charged with failure to stop for a pedestrian within a crosswalk after his vehicle struck a 20-year-old man Tuesday.

According to Farmville Police Department Cap. William “Bill” Hogan, the incident was reported at 8:30 a.m. at the intersection of Third and Main Streets.

The pedestrian, who suffered minor injuries, was crossing the street in the crosswalk, Hogan said, when the 1995 Ford Truck, operated by Frederick Dunn, struck him.

“The southbound truck was turning left onto East Third Street as the pedestrian entered the crosswalk from the south side of Third Street. The pedestrian complained of injury to his side and was transported to Centra Southside Community Hospital by the Prince Edward Volunteer Rescue Squad,” Hogan said.

After treatment, the pedestrian was released from the hospital.
