Pianist and composer Dr. R. David Salvage will perform with the Commonwealth Chorale during its upcoming performances of Felix Mendelssohn’s Elijah in Buckingham and Farmville.

Salvage and the chorale will perform Dec. 4 at 3 p.m. at Satchidananda Ashram-Yogaville, 108 Yogaville Way, Buckingham, and on Dec. 11 at 3 p.m. at Farmville United Methodist Church, 212 High St., Farmville.

Salvage’s music has been called both “elegant [and] smartly realized” and “refreshingly eclectic.” His piano, chamber, vocal and orchestral works have been performed by many of American’s most gifted musicians. Prior to coming to Hampden-Sydney, Salvage taught at the Brooklyn College Conservatory of Music and privately in Bologna, Italy. His works have appeared on the album Lock and Key (Navona Records 5881), and he completed the score for the independent film. Thank You, Cabbage.
