The Heart of Virginia Beekeepers group is taking registrations for “Practical Beekeeping for Beginners.” The course starts Feb. 7 on non-consecutive Tuesdays, 7-9 p.m., at the Prince Edward Extension Office across from Lowe’s in Farmville.

The class will last eight weeks and includes a field day. The last class will be April 18. The course is specifically designed for those who intend to start honeybee colonies.

Material covered will include the history of honeybees, bee life cycle, seasonal management, equipment and supplies needed, integrated and sustainable management techniques.

Tuition is $100 per family. Class size is limited and advance registration is required.
