NOVEMBER 17

POST 32 TO MEET, 7 p.m., The Farmville Jack Garland American Legion Post 32 and the Legion Auxiliary at the Thomas Hardy Graham VFW Post 7059, 1616 Graham Road. All members and prospective members are asked to attend.

NOVEMBER 19

AUXILIARY SUPPER, 5-7 p.m., Prospect Volunteer Fire Department, 45 Campbell Hill Road. The meal will include pulled pork, green beans, mashed potatoes, gravy, apples, bread, drink and dessert. The cost is a donation at the door.

BINGO, 6 p.m. held the third Saturday of each month at the Cartersville Volunteer Rescue Squad. Jackpot is $1,000 with 75 or more players. No children under age 9. All proceeds benefit the Rescue Squad. Any questions, call (804) 314-0966.

IN CONCERT, 6 p.m. at Ontario Christian Church, 175 Old Kings Road (Route 622 and U.S. 360), Drakes Branch. Gospel recording artist Michael Wayne Smith of Oak Ridge, Tenn, will perform.

FEEDING THE PEOPLE MINISTRY, 1-4 p.m. at House of Prayer Empowerment Temple, 354 Wood Row Road, Pamplin. There will be a free Thanksgiving dinner along with fellowship and fun. All are welcome, and transportation is available by calling (434) 248-5300.

PRE-MEN’S DAY SERVICE, 3 p.m. at Midway Baptist Church, 837 Guinea Road, Farmville. Musical guests will include the Rocky Mount Baptist Church Men’s Chorus, Cornerstone Baptist Church Men’s Chorus and the Swannbells of Harmony.

NOVEMBER 20

MEN AND WOMEN OF THE BIBLE, 3 pm., presented by the First Liberty Baptist Church Deacon and Deaconess Ministry. Watch Biblical characters come to life through song, dance, recitations and more. Immediately following the morning service there will be a Pre-Thanksgiving fellowship dinner.

WOMEN’S DAY AND PRE-THANKSGIVING PROGRAM, 2:30 p.m. at Mt. Olive Baptist Church of Dillwyn, presenting “Bad Girls of the Bible.” Morning service will begin at 11 a.m. followed by a Thanksgiving luncheon. The Second Liberty Baptist Church Choir will render the music for the afternoon service.

HARVEST RALLY, 3 p.m. at New Hope Baptist Church of Keysville. The Rev. Vincent Eanes of Lone Oak Baptist Church will be accompanied by his choir. A meal will be served after the program. All are welcome.

WORSHIP SERVICES, 10:30 a.m. at SafeHaven Christian Ministries, 505 Griffin Blvd. (SCOPE building) in Farmville. The Reverend Gloria Eanes is pastor.

THANKSGIVING DINNER, 5 p.m., at Cedar Baptist Church, 3932 Bell Road, Dillwyn. Service to follow at 6 p.m.

CHURCH ANNIVERSARY, 3 p.m. at Peaks Baptist Church, to celebrate the 143rd anniversary of the church. The Rev. Samuel Trent, pastor, Morrison Grove Baptist Church, Charlotte Court House, will render the message accompanied by his choir and congregation.

ANNUAL MEN’S DAY, 11 a.m. at Midway Baptist Church during the worship service. Sponsored by the Men’s Ministry. The Rev. Dr. Nathan Harper, associate minister of Midway, will deliver the word. This year’s theme is “On This Journey, We Need Jesus” with scripture reference from Mark 8:34-38. The Rev. Irma T. Watson is pastor.

PRE-THANKSGIVING PROGRAM, 3 p.m. at Gill Baptist Church. Many groups will appear. The Gill Hill church family invites the public to attend.

ANNUAL SENIOR CITIZENS THANKSGIVING DINNER, 3 p.m. at Prince Edward Elks Lodge 269, in conjunction with Manhattan Temple 184. The guest speaker for the evening will be the Rev. Dr. James Taylor from Race Street Baptist Church. Music will be offered by one of his choirs. All senior citizens are invited to come celebrate.

NOVEMBER 23

FREE THANKSGIVING MEALS, 11 a.m.-1p.m. at the Farmville Train Station, 510 W. Third St., Farmville. Sponsored by the The VA Smoove Rydaz MC/SC and PIedmont Community Supporters. Anyone in need of ad hot Thanksgiving meal may pick one up. Meals will also be delivered to the elderly as well as the sick and shut-in. PRE-THANKSGIVING DAY SERVICE, 7 p.m. at Mt. Moriah Upper Room Baptist Church, 1913 Tuggle Road. The Rev. Frank Lacey, pastor of Riverside Community Church in Farmville, will bring the Thanksgiving message. The Rev. Stanley Wesley, pastor, invited the public.

NOVEMBER 24

THANKSGIVING TURKEY GIVEAWAY, 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at Dominion Worship Center, 706 East Virginia Avenue, Crewe. The center invites the community to come eat and enjoy fellowship at the Thanksgiving Community Luncheon on at Blackstone Primary School in Blackstone. The event is sponsored by Faith Based Community of Blackstone and Crewe.

DECEMBER 1

FARMVILLE GRIEF SUPPORT GROUP, 5:30 pm. at  Farmville United Methodist Church, 212 High St. The group is free and open to anyone in the community who is grieving the loss of a loved one. DECEMBER 2

WORKSHOP, at Longwood’s Environmental Education Center, Lancer Park at the end of Cormier Drive, Farmville, on farm energy management practices and technologies. This event will feature Dennis Brothers, of Auburn University’s National Poultry Education Center. Brothers will present information on LED lighting and best practices for generator maintenance. The content will be oriented toward poultry farms. The session will also feature representatives from the USDA, and a technical service provider discussing USDA farm energy programs.
