Buckingham JROTC named Raider overall champion

The Buckingham County High JROTC Raider Team became the overall champion at the Orange County Raider Meet Oct. 22, defeating 21 other Raider teams. The Raider team, led by cadet Trenton Houser, placed first in rope bridge, with a time of 1 minute 41 seconds; first in litter carry; and first in the physical fitness test (PT). The all-female team, led by Rachael Pugh, would place sixth overall, but placed first in the all-female category. The female team would place first in rope bridge, first in litter carry and first in PT. Houser was named the meet’s overall best male athlete; Pugh the meet’s overall best female athlete. Savannah Collier received the most sit-ups award by a female with 54 in 1 minute. Participating schools were Fishburne Military, Orange County, Courtland High School, Brunswick High School, Spotsylvania High School and Harrisonburg High School.
