Community benefits from Stokes work for adults and youth

We’re very lucky to have Pauline Stokes in our community. Through various programs, Stokes, a Virginia Cooperative Extension agent, has impacted the lives of thousands of adults and young people alike throughout the Heart of Virginia. This summer, she initiated the Farmville Grows project, which resulted in the first community garden in Farmville. The garden not only brought the community together, but introduced fresh vegetables onto the tables of local families, many of which had never seen such bounty. Through the Extension’s SNAP-Ed program, which Stokes is leading locally, 4,500 students and numerous adults have been reached with a mission of eating smarter and moving more. We thank and commend Stokes for promoting good health. (Send ‘Way to Go’ photos with names and a description to waytogo@farmvilleherald.com).
