Large counterfeit bill transactions reported; police seek tips on suspects

Farmville police are seeking information on three people who are allegedly passing counterfeit money throughout Central and Southside Virginia.

Police are seeking tips on two separate incidents reported at Walmart in Farmville, where the three reportedly passed multiple $50 and $20 bills, according to a press release from the Farmville Police Department.

The incidents were reported on Sept. 15 and Nov. 28, police say.

In November, police were told “that a white female subject with short blonde hair had passed a large amount of counterfeit $50 bills. The subject was accompanied by a black female driving a white sedan.

Police say the incidents are indicative of a “growing problem” throughout the state.

“The investigation has revealed that all three of these individuals may be linked to similar cases in multiple jurisdictions throughout Central and Southside Virginia,” the release stated.
