Over 600 hot Thanksgiving meals were distributed to Farmville on Nov. 25 by the Piedmont Community Supporters and VA Smoove Rydaz at the Farmville Train Station.

Over 20 volunteers pre-prepared 400 plates of turkey, ham, stuffing, mashed potatoes, green beans, yams, rolls and cranberry sauce, and prepared another 200 for the community. Members of the Dynamic Divaz social club also assisted in the efforts.

Piedmont Community Supporters has been performing the annual community services for about eight years, according to volunteer and organizer Donald Hunter. In 30 minutes, the groups distributed 400 meals, according to Hunter, who serves on the Farmville Town Council.

“It’s just about helping people,” he said. “There’s always going to be a need in this area,” volunteer Ernest Toney said of the event.
