The Prince Edward-Farmville Youth Association (PEFYA) Angels softball team saw their All-Star run end earlier this week.

The Angels made history for their league and played in their first World Series tournament, representing Farmville and Virginia in strong fashion with two big wins in that event.

With many area fans listening in online and even calling in with encouragement to the team, PEFYA opened the World Series play in Moore County, N.C., on Saturday. The team would take on a tough team from Taylorsville, Miss. and fell with a 7-1 score. After getting the nerves out, PEFYA settled in on the second day as they took on Wesley Chapel, Florida, in an elimination game. PEFYA’s defense and pitching would rule the day for Virginia as the local squad came away with a 2-0 shut ut win.

PEFYA then kept its momentum rolling as it shut out its second straight opponent with its offense and claimed a 5-0 win over Wayne County, Tenn.

PEFYA went on to play a close game in its final World Series contest against Aynor, S.C., before a late rally ended the eventful season for the PEFYA Angels in a 6-0 final.

The team consisted of Kyla Edmonds, Danner Allen, Sydney Baldwin, Meredith Schmidt, Olivia Elam, Alyson Lucas, Alani Walton, Brooke Conwell, DeDee Dupuy, Mallory Brown, Jayla Ford and Summer Boettcher. The Angels were coached by Terrance Edmonds, Larry Conwell, and Manager James Allen.
