PRINCE EDWARD — A 44-year-old Farmville woman sustained serious injuries Saturday after her vehicle hydroplaned, flipped over and struck a tree on U.S. Route 15 in Prince Edward County.

According to State Police spokeswoman Corinne Geller, the crash occurred at 10:33 a.m. less than a mile north of Tuggle Road. “A 2010 GMC Yukon was south on Route 15 when it ran off the right side of the road, overturned and struck a tree. There was a heavy downpour at the time of the crash, which caused the vehicle to hydroplane,” said Geller.
