RADFORD — Cumberland High School’s Annesha Harris left her opponents in the dust at the Virginia High School League (VHSL) 1A State Track & Field Championship at Radford University June 4-6. Harris was named Individual State Champion in the 100-meter hurdles, 300-meter hurdles, and long jump.

“Annesha is a coach’s dream to coach,” CHS track coach Kenneth Jasey said.

“She is an excellent student, family-oriented, goofy, and a very fun loving person. She is not only our 1A State Champion and record holder in three events, but also traveled to Kentucky for the 2015 Kentucky Relays at University of Kentucky and won the long jump and runner-up in 100 meter hurdles.”

She has received scholarship offers to run track and will make her announcement in the coming days. We are very proud of her accomplishments,” Jasey added. As a whole, the Dukes’ girls track team placed third at the state meet. The boys team placed ninth.
